Donation of equipment with furniture of the “Children’s Umbrella” of the Municipality of Pavlos Melas

On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, the inauguration of the Structure took place by the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia Mr. Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and the Mayor of Pavlos Melas Mr. Dimitrios Demourtzidis as the structure, located in Efkarpia, was funded by European funds. program of Sustainable Urban Development of the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki. The inauguration was attended by the President of Network Mr. Nikolaos Pentzos and the General Manager of K2 Contract Furniture Mr. Vlassis Papadopoulos.

A few words about the Structure

The purpose of this important structure is to support the child and the family but also to strengthen and improve the social services provided to vulnerable groups of the population. In particular, the structure supports children up to 18 years old, belonging to vulnerable groups of the population, who have difficulty or are unable to receive services, which are deemed necessary for their psychosomatic development, while the parent can also take sessions, mainly in the form counseling (such as participation in parent groups).

The Child and Family Support Structure of the Municipality of Pavlos Melas “Children’s Umbrella” operates at 4 Pavlou Mela Street, in Efkarpia from Monday to Friday, from 7.00 in the morning until 20.00.

The staff that staffs the structure consists of a seven-member scientific team, which includes a psychologist, 2 speech therapists, a teacher specializing in special education, an occupational therapist, a nutritionist – dietitian, a philologist, and a mathematician.

The “Children’s Umbrella” can be addressed to bodies, organizations or associations, which are active with vulnerable social groups or have within them individuals identified as such, but also individual beneficiaries, integrated into socially vulnerable groups.
